I make slapz...Im capable of producing hitz...I do this because I love doing this and not just for fame and glory...I been making beats since i was about 15 (im 18 now) and I know I still have a lot to learn...but i know i have potential and I'm willing to expand it in the near future...i specialize in California type affairs (i.e. Jerk,Hyphy) and I'm in a jerkin click called "Team $ex".
Why this name?
I came up with the name "Dee K. da Kali Boi" when I moved to Houston, TX. Everybody noticed I wasn't from Texas, so they would be like "Oh, there goes da Kali Boi rite there" and I just went on from there...
Do you play live?
I've never really performed before, but hoepfully that'll all change when I go back to Kali. But me and my group had a jerkin' session for people before and I loved it because of the rush and everything.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens a lot of doors up for upcoming artists and producers. It's easier to get your music out and heard...especially on Myspace and Sound Click.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends on the stipulations of the contract. I seen a a lot of mainstream dudes come out with just one hit and thats it...if I get signed, I'm trying to come back with multiple hits, I'm talking back to back to back.
Band History:
I started out in a rap group, but it wasn't for me, but I do like colabbin' with other artists.
Your influences?
I like E-40, Keak da Sneak, and other Kali artists.
Favorite spot?
My favorite city is Los Angeles of course (Gardena to be exact).
Equipment used:
I use Fl Studios 8, Adobe Audition 3, Cubase4, Yamaha Keyboard, and a M-Audio mic.
