About the song
After having read this insightful poem on Electric Shadow's site, here at Soundclick, Jerry Willard of Electric Shadow graciously consented to allow my attempt to set "True Fortune" to music.....but, it seems the words themselves made the music!!!! The search for unconditional love involves searching one's self as well as those in your life and then even into the most abstract concepts of life, weighing one's self in the balance...
Lyrics
True Fortune
Jerry Willard
Capo 1st fret

D A Em
You know true fortune doesn't come easy
D A Em
And sometimes it doesn't come at all
D A Em
But the little voice inside my head says
D A Em
If you want it go ahead and take the fall

Refrain #1
F G Dsus4 D
Go ahead and trace the mystery
F G Dsus4 D
Check the footprints in the hall
F G Dsus4 D
The dawn is slowly breaking
G F D
and time won't wait at all

D A Em
Now you've got yourself in deeper
D A Em
In a maze, you twist and turn
D A Em
Don't leave any stone uncovered
D A Em
For this fortune, you must earn

Break
B7 A B7 A
D A Em
D A Em
F G Dsus4 D
F G Dsus4 D
G F D

Refrain #2
B7 A
How do you check the balance with your eyes closed?
B7 A Am
Is there really true justice for all?
F G Dsus4 D
Go ahead and trace the mystery
G F D
Check the footprints in the hall

D A Em
At the start you were so clever
D A Em
Stalking at every move
D A Em
You were sure, you had the answers
D A Em
But the answers came too soon

Refrain #1

D A Em
In your time of desperation
D A Em
Your life flashes before your eyes
D A Em
You see all the truth before you
D A Em
And again, you hear all the lies

Refrain #3
B7 A
Did you count on things that were pointless?
B7 A A7
And gamble on things that were sure?
D A Em
Have they promised the road isn't rocky?
D A Em
And the future to be secure?

Refrain #4
F G Dsus4 D
Go ahead and trace the mystery
F G Dsus4 D
Check the footprints in the hall
F G Dsus4 D
True fortune is called love
G F D
And this is free to all........
