We have spent the last two years essentially getting to know one another and building on the "Who are we?" We have learned one another's passions and talents as well as strengths and weaknesses, all the while growing as one. We have pulled the best pieces of each individual and merged them into our music so we can deliver in solid rock form.

Zen Rising has built a strong camaraderie amongst its members over the past two years and out of this came our debut album, "...This Life". We are proud to say that this album has been received well by our local radio stations, Kamloops Best Rock, 98.3 and The River 97.5 CKRV. We have been in regular rotation since our release on April 2nd of this year. This exposure has also prompted radio and newspaper interviews as well as airtime support for our local shows.

Our current material is influenced by our personal battles and experiences. Many of the songs from our debut album have been inspired by the loss and fond memories of Zen Guitarist, Erik Scholefield's mother in 2007. This has had a great reflection in the writing of our music for this album and so "...This Life" is rightfully dedicated to Toni Scholefield.
Why this name?
Through much deliberation amongst band members we chose Zen Rising because of the inspirational feel. This name, to us, suggests what you put into life ultimately yields what you get out of life and the results that make it all worthwhile.
Do you play live?
Absolutely! We have played many of our shows in Kamloops BC, however we have, and are more than willing to play wherever we can!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES
Your influences?
Between the 5 of us, we have a huge array of influential bands. Our roots are in heavy metal however our music does not always reflect this. Some we can agree upon are Three Days Grace, Led Zepplin, Bruce Springsteen, and Tool. We tend to take small elements of each and combine them in our music.
Favorite spot?
The jam space of course!
Anything else...?
A huge shout out to Tim Neuhaus and all the gang of EAR ART studio in Vancouver BC!!
