I am RCTFORME, a lone man on a mission: To create Electronica hits that everyone will love! And if they don't, then atleast I know I love them, and isn't that all that matters? No? Awe, yer no fun.

As the lone member (Aaron West), well I guess you wouldn't really call it a band rather than call me a Solo Artist. The Artist Currently known as RCTFORME! Woot, I rock.

I use my computer to create and mix almost all of my songs, though I sometimes use sounds and samples from off the PC as well ^_^ I enjoy using real live sound effects (many I record myself) along with my music to give them a personal touch and keep them from sounding 'too electronic' and to avoid the idea that I don't do any work away from my PC.

What kind of Music do you play?
My music is mostly electronica, but it varries in different styles and genre's. From hard-hitting Rave to Smooth Trance to Spooky Industrial, all my hits are a flavor of something different. I think everyone will find something to love in each song I do ^_)^ Even if people don't love all my songs, I'm confident most people will find 1 that they really love.

However, what you must understand about my music is what sets it apart from other electronica-style music: Style. Knowing that electronic music is becoming easier and easier to produce, the music being produced is quickly losing the stylized properties that it had when it was only being produced by top artists. However, what sets my music apart from others is that my music has a nature of it's own. My production method is to choose a style and a theme, and place together the music that fits that style, and make sure it sounds good all the same (unlike some Electronica Artists who throw together random samples that sound 'okay', and call it a song. I'm not pointing fingers, but it happens, folks). With that, and a lot of editing, what comes out is the glory of what you'll find on this page, and on my album :) I really do try hard to produce good-sounding music, and atleast I know that every song on my list I love.
Why this name?
RCTFORME is a VERY VERY old name I used when I first found the internet. My favorite video game at the time was "Roller Coaster Tycoon", and I had just joined a Message Board. When I went to register my user name, I chose "RCTFORME" as my name, and ever since then, I've used RCTFORME as my Handle in everything! AIM, EZboard, Ejay, even on my cell phone and my Nintendo DS! Even here, too. August 2006 is my 7-year RCT Anniversery.

Why Electronica?
Electronica is a very controversial style of music. And what I mean by that is: It can be deemed as 'not music' by artists who use actual instruments (guitars, drums, etc) because 1: it is very easy to produce, and 2: it requires very little effort on the artists part. However, What many artists fail to realize is that good electronica is not easy to produce, and requires a lot of effort on the artists part. This is due to the fact that electronica that is just thrown together in 5 minutes is probably going to SUCK! It might be half decent (if you're lucky), but if you want to make more than decent electronica, you have to know 1: how to use what you have, 2: what sounds good, 3: how to fit to your style, 4: how to keep it sounding good and 5: when to stop. (I say 'when to stop' because if you spend too much time on something that sounds good, it will become repetative very quickly).

Electronica to me is all about making you forget about the rest of the world. When you're listening to these songs, you don't want to (and usually won't) think about that bill you might not have paid, or that other thing you forgot to do, or if people think you're fat, or whatever. You're in your own space and time, creating visualizations of the world around you based on what you're listening too. Also, only good electronica music allows you to concentrate on the here and now, because it clears your mind of the things you shouldn't be thinking about. This in turn allows you to not only concentrate on the music, but on other, certain things as well. Electronica music is meant to steady the mind, and should allow you to relax and be calm. If the music can do that, then it is good electronica music, and that's not music you stick together in 5 minutes.
Do you play live?
Even though my music is not technically performable, my music is played on some online radio stations over at Live365. I am also a Professional Amateur Comedian (Oxy moron?). I have performed at my local bar, and at my local comedy clubs (where I've gotten a lot of laughs). I also plan on touring and doing comedy once I'm out of college.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet opens up many, many doors, and clogs others. Of course, considering that the internet has enabled the illegal use of programs such as Kazaa and Morpheus in order to retrieve songs illegally (most of which would normally be aquired through payment, buying albums and such) and movies for free. This being said, the internet is also really good for new Musicians to strut their stuff and get their 15 megs of fame. The internet is and remains the most powerful tool in the world right now, and I plan on using it as far as I can, and as legally as I can.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely. I know there isn't much money in being a solo artist as I am, so if, by some miracle, a record company wanted to publish my album, I'd probably jump at the chance ^_^
Band History:
The RCTFORME Band (or solo-band, or whatever) started in July, 2003, when I first discovered the music program that I'm still using today (different versions, of course). Once I found out how easy it was to make the music, I soon learned how to make complex, and amazing-sounding melodies with nothing more than a few clicks of the mouse. Althrough, that's not to say that making decent music is easy. It takes A LOT of concentration, preparation, and editing to push out a half-decent electronica song. If you want it to sound good, you have to spend a lot of time on it.
Your influences?
I was first into music by listening to the radio. (Warning: Long story coming!!!) There was (and still is) a Christian Radio Station in my town, WJIE ("Where Jesus Is Exalted"). They played lots of good acoustic and contemporary christian songs, as well as some more rock-and-roll and dance songs (all Christian, of course). Enjoying almost all of these songs, I got into Dance Songs around the age of 14, when I began falling for the music in video games. Dance led to Rave and that led to Trance as I got into the AOL Radio Trance Station. Of course I loved almost every song they played. Then, at some point, I stumbled onto a message at a forum of a person who had recorded their very own music track using a program called Ejay. I found a demo and recorded my first song. Oh happy days ^_)^. From then on, I baught more different versions of Ejay from Ebay (the site), and I've been playing with those ever since. My greatest musical influence would definitally have to be Streets of SimCity, which is an old video game with some of the best Techno Music I've ever heard. I still keep copies of those songs on my computer :) I'm also a HUGE FAN of the music from F-Zero GX (Phantom Road ROCKS!!!), Starfox Adventures (Jungle and Ambient Electronica), SimCopter, and other video games with excellent music.
Favorite spot?
Well since I've moved out of my house, I have to pick a new favorite spot. I'm still getting settled in my apartment, so I haven't chosen a favorite spot yet. I'm thinking the McDonalds downtown on 2nd & Broadway, or the JCC Student Lounge in the basement of the VTI building on 1st-2nd & Chestnut.
Equipment used:
My most important tool in music creation is my ears. As I create and edit my music, I use whatever sounds good to me and string it along with whatever specific style or theme I'm playing with at the time. Though it's a very simplistic and uncomplicated style, it does work very well. However, this does not mean that I don't put effort into my songs, as I do spend a lot of time with them. I have to make it sound as perfect (to me) as possible before I deem a song finished. Unfortunitally, I've lost all my original mix files, so all my current songs are here to stay.
Anything else...?
Anything else? What else is there to say? Visit my website @ RCTFORME.Com (link at top of page), post at my message board, listen to my songs, AIM me if you wanna chat ^_^ I don't care :D It's all good to me, man ;)

Holy crap, did you really read all the way down here? ^_^ Sweet. Hope I helped you out some :) That's what life is all about, man. Helping people. If you're not helping people with what you do, it's not worth doing.
