The Band. Well, we have Quozzy who does the singing and plays (or at least tries) the banjo and acoustic guitar. He has recently invested in a Line 6 Variax 700 acoustic modeling guitar. He says that if he ever learns to play the damn thing, he'll play it on the next album (should a next album exist). Mo plays the mandolin, 12 string, and acoustic bass among others (he is the baby of the band, at 36, he is the only one young enough to still be working). Jo, at 41, is the daddy of the band. His speciality is the capo. All he needs now is a guitar to put it on. Oh, Jo is also the proud owner of a 6 string banjo, a 6 string harmonica, and a no string violin which is well past it's sell by date. He once showed an interest in the Penny Whistle, but being a pensioner, he couldn't afford one.
Why this name?
Quozzy gave someone the hump one day and as a retort the name was used and (for whatever reason) stuck. Untill that fateful day, the band were known as The Three Left Knees on account of the fact that each one has a dodgy left knee (wow, you couldn't make this stuff up, honestly).
Do you play live?
The boys do play live, much to the disappointment of the general public. The boys appear (and play) at the Borough Arms in Gateshead (Tyne & Wear) every Thursday. The landlord has tried locking the door, but they still manage to break in. The band are so well known in their native Gateshead that an "Ear-plug seller" has set up a stall outside the Borough and is doing a roaring trade on a Thursday nights.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet? Whats the internet? And mp3..........isn't that "sticky tape" or is that M3 I'm thinking of? Ah well, I'm sure its a good thing. We all need sticky tape after all.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Quozzy and Jo are to old for that malarky and have no interest in fame or fortune (eh? the little fibbers). Mo on the other hand would sign for anything as long as there's a packet of crisps in it for him. Oh, and I'd keep an eye on your pen. Mo has quite a collection of them now.
Band History:
Band history? I suppose here I should tell you all about how Quozzy is the son of a 1 legged gypsy and Mo is an escaped convict from the planet Zyron or the fact that Jo is an under-cover agent for the parks commission (he thinks we don't know that) but I won't. I'll just say "history, what history?"
Your influences?
Everyone (except sodding Elvis) from Chopin to Floyd and that dog that used to sing on the Esther Rantzen show.
Favorite spot?
Well my favorite spot is a mole on the girlfriends b.... Favorite city, thats easy, it's Felling (drat, thats a village). Oh well, Gateshead then (darn thats a town). OK, it has to be Newcastle (whoopie, got there in the end).
Equipment used:
I have a Swiss Army knife which does me fine.
Anything else...?
Anything goes? Anything goes.................I'm sure there's a song there somewhere
