We want people not only to listen, but to think when they listen to our music. We try to make most of our songs complex musically and lyrically. (However, sometimes we like to record jam tracks, most of which shouldn't be taken too seriously.)
Why this name?
Cognitive Response means "answering to the process of thought." Our lyrics focus on rethinking what we have been taught. Free thought. A different perspective.
Band History:
Cognitive Response started out in November 2006 as a side project of a progressive metal band called Visionarium. It's name back then was "Iumentum". It was basically in the same style of Visionarium, but much more heavy and dissonant. Over time, the project went in a different direction and became more eclectic, eventually switching from metal to a sort of "experimental progressive rock". This was when the name was changed from Iumentum to Cognitive Response to describe the new approach. We have written a demo entitled "Voices Within Static" and we're working on another demo called "Echoes of an Old Memory".

Anything else...?
We believe in music as an art form, a way of expressing oneself, above being simply a market dominated way of making money with cookie cutter mainstream rubbish.
