Synik is without a doubt one of the illest lyricists to hit Zimbabwe's hip hop scene. Why this name?
I was young and it sounded cool. Then it just kinda stuck...But on the real though, I used to be quite the cynical dude, but I guess Im improving on that aspect.
Do you play live?
Im a regular performer at Harare's monthly hip hop event, The Circle. Ive also performed at the revolutionary spoken word event, Mashoko! Its great being on stage 'Moving the Crowd'
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has taken out the CD store as the main source of music. Depending on your positioning this can either be an advantage or detrimental to your career.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I dont know yet. Would they take away my creative rights? if so nooooooooooo!
Your influences?
Anybody making music from the heart. From the underground hip hop cats to Neo soul singers, revolutionary reggae artists. Soft Rock gets me going as well....I just love MUSIC
