Hi, my name's Ron and this is where I'll be posting my solo stuff. I'm a 55 year old music fanatic with a head full of songs, a few guitars and amps, a computer loaded with a studio programme, and an obsession to get the songs out of my head and into my ears. Eventually I would like to be a part of a loose collection of like minded souls who collaberate over the internet on a variety of musical projects. This is what the other band name on my site is supposed to be about (hence the name-sea of souls!). If anyone out there is interested please email.
Why this name?
That's easy-it's my name!
Do you play live?
I've played live in the past as a bass player in various bands. Special moment has to be when one of the bands was playing at the local police social club and my sister had her silk scarf stolen!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has opened up the music business to everyone. the record companies no longer have the power to deny anyone the chance to have their music heard
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think I could put up with their bullshit!
Band History:
I don't really have much of a history. Apart from bands I was in years ago,( all just local cover bands- all good fun, but none of them famous), I've spent every bit of spare time writing and recording my songs.
Your influences?
Musical influences are difficult as they can change at a moments notice when I hear a great song, but I love Dave Gilmore's guitar sound and the way Jeff Buckley constructed his songs. Lately I've been listening to a band called Necromandus, their guitarist ( Bas Dunnery )was tremendous.
Favorite spot?
Anywhere in the countryside!
Equipment used:
My main guitars are a Samick Avion, a Squier Telecaster, and a Vintage. I have a Jaz type bass, and a Yamaha electronic drum kit. The guitars are played through a Marshall MG30 DFX, and sent to the computer through an M_AUDIO interface. The computer has MAGIX AUDIO STUDIO 9 on it.
