Bryan Franz is an independent musician who writes neoclassical electronic music. His music blends bittersweet melodies and harmonies with abstract space tones. Listeners say many of his songs have a cinematic feel.

Bryan is finishing his debut album, Winter Takes the Stars. A tribute to science fiction, the album contains songs that range from electronic rock to ambient classical.
Do you play live?
I have played live as a guitarist in bands. I hope to find a way to play my music live.
Band History:
I started writing music when I was about thirteen. Having just bought some MIDI software for $10, I was excited to write some instrumental songs. They sounded pretty good to me, but something seemed wrong about them. Later, I learned it was the lack of a beat, key, chord progression, and melody.

Now, eight years later, I've studied music theory in college, learned from many great musicians, played guitar in numerous bands, composed and arranged music for plays and skits, and generally gotten a little better than I was before.

I decided to finish the CD about a year ago, and it has been a huge challenge. Very rewarding though, I'm definitely going to make more.
Your influences?
I listen to many genres of music. I love the contemporary-classical works of Yanni, John Tesh, and Jennifer Thomas; they are my main influence. I also enjoy electronic-rock, like The Birthday Massacre and Infected Mushroom.

When I want to hear great guitar playing, I listen to the Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, and Paul Gilbert.
