This band is a fundamental collection of like minded individuals with a strange twist on art. We feel that art is an expression of ones soul painted with many mediums on many different types of canvas. Our music is a way of expressing our interpretations of life, and emotion to our listeners. We love working with artists of all mediums. So we work with many other artists like photographers, videographers, painters, etc... to bring our music to life with even more depth. We are The Focusing Halo, and this is our canvas.
Why this name?
I was using a random name generator to find a song title for the band Davidoth, and I had some results with the words Focusing on one and Halo on the other, it just sounded really cool to me. Later on, I had decided that several songs I had been writing were not fitting with the theme of Davidoth. So I decided to start a new project. The Focusing Halo name came back to me then. It seemed to fit perfectly with the mood I was in writing the tracks, my mind is often clouded with doubt, anger or deep seeded emotion. So to me, Focusing Halo represented an inner turmoil were I was searching for something within myself, my "Halo" but it was out of my reach, its not in "Focus". Thus, The Focusing Halo. -Dave.
Do you play live?
Currently, not yet. But we are just about finished with our debut album Everything He Never Wanted And we have an acoustic show in the works.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet is great in many ways for Indy artists. It allows us to pretend like we are rock stars, its cool.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends. I think we definitely would, no question as long as we were allowed creative control of our work, otherwise..no.
Band History:
The Focusing Halo was formed 9/11/2008 In Warwick, RI. It was formed when Electro - Ambient producer and Davidoth band leader David Radcliffe needed a new outlet to process his new ideas and musical direction that veered away from the Electronica themed Davidoth and into the realm of Instrumental Rock. He started the project solo, writing exclusively on his Guitar and Bass then built on the platform incorporating keys and synth. The early demo versions of the project were placed under the umbrella of "Moon of the Helpless" as a tentative title. Dave then drafted Ed "Dugey" Anton, also from Davidoth to assist with the recording and engineering of the project. Dave then reached out to George Threats, a local Musician - Producer and phenomenal bass player to assist in consulting on the project. But it was in mid January that Dave enlisted the help of Davidoth contributor Chaitan C. Rao as a full time band member. Chaitan would become a full fledged writer, performer and producer with Dave on the project, Contributing precussion and synth as well as production work. Together the team have been putting the finishing touches on the debut album "Everything He Never Wanted". Dave and Chaitan have also enlisted the help of a few other artists to contribute to the project. Naomi Smith has been drafted as the bands Photographer. Stephanie Santangini, one of Dave's long time friends is on board for live guitar and is also helping wright songs for the upcoming Davidoth effort, and future Focusing Halo tracks. Adam Fagan - Kela is working with the band on Future Video's as well as working with Davidoth and Anthony "Butch" Gerundio will still continue to provide security for the band and especially all the groupies.
