I am working up to be a DJ both in the club and rave scene. I am also interested and beginning to produce my own tracks (once I get a feel for what kicks on the dance floor). Legally, I am a trance addict. I live, breathe, eat, and sleep to trance music. Trance is my passion and my life.
Why this name?
AarmOZ is some weird typo in my senior yearbook. My real name is Aaron, but the index to my yearbook spelled my name as AarmOZ. I am use to people misspelling my first name, but this typo was so bad that I realized it made for a good and original DJ name.
Do you play live?
I hope to be able to spin live some day. I am currently working on my craft and filling up my crate.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This is an amazing time in DJing!!! Talented people can record and sell tracks without the producers ruining it... or interfering with new forms of music because they are "not marketable." As a DJ, with the advancements in MP3 DJing, I can buy a track from an unknown artist, play it at the next gig, and cause a hype for an unknown artist.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would sign one if I was allowed to spin or produce what I want to. I have no problem getting paid to do what I like. My only fear is that my individuality might be compromised in order to reach a larger audience (lessons learned from Vanilla Ice).
Band History:
No history at this time.
Your influences?
Here in the States, DJs like Keioki, Bad Boy Bill, and Irene have shown that there is in interest in the USA for EDM music and that the DJ has a place in the music industry. Fatboy Slim has shown that a DJ can go platinum in this country (it is no longer a far fetched dream). I am heavily influenced by music from the UK, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands as these countries have brought EDM into a mainstream arena that was never thought possible. I am also inspired by Tiesto who became the first DJ to perform in live concert.
Favorite spot?
I love Seattle!!! The indie music scene there is simply AWESOME. Also, I am a huge fan of the dance scenes in New York City and Miami. These are the three cities I need to DJ in to feel like I truly made it.
Equipment used:
I currently use Stanton T.90 USB turntables, a Pioneer DJM 600 mixer, and Rane Serato Scratch Live for my DJ kit. I also own a Roland Fantom X digital synthesizer/keyboard, Reason 3.0, and a few other music programs. I have a few vinyl (mainly trance and hardstyle records).
Anything else...?
Thanks to the DJs and musicians who keep the underground rave and dance scene alive. Also, a huge thanks to the listeners and fans who keep us employed!!!!
