Thanks to those of you who took the time to visit this page. We are Subculture Stereo! A band based out of Western Massachusetts. The band consists of 5 member: Dillon (vocals and keys), Dave (guitar), Ken (lead guitar), Ted (bass), and Scott (drums). The band started with Dillon and Dave over a year ago. We are mainly categorized as a punk band, but musically we are a combination of punk, 70s rock n roll, blues, psychedelic, and new wave. We have a self released E.P. entitled "Hookers & Tea" and a full length album about to be released.
Why this name?
Our guitarist Dave wrote a song called "Subculture Stereo" in a band he was in when he was 14.
Do you play live?
We've played almost every type of show in Western Mass and CT. We've had some good shows, and some shows with no interest or turnout.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes it easier for bands to be heard at little to no cost.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not sure
Band History:
Dillon and Dave began writing songs in 2007. Since the birth of Subculture Stereo, many line up changes took place before the final line up which consists of Dillon on vocals and keys, Dave on guitar, Ken on guitar, Ted on Bass and vocals, and Scott on drums. The band started as a 70s style punk band before the release of the 7 song E.P. "Hookers & Tea." Since the release of "Hookers & Tea", the band has begun to evolve as the entire band merged its influences into one creative style of music. As of now, the Self Titled release is in the works and will be released in the Spring/Summer of 2009.
Your influences?
We're into 70s punk like The Stooges, The Jam, and The Clash. Rock N Roll like MC5 and Black Sabbath. Post Punk and new wave like Joy Division, The Talking Heads, and New Order. We're also influenced by blues and early 80s hardcore.
