Altitude Control strives to create compelling original music not bound by traditional labels. We thrive on improvisation, groove and interplay. So, calling us 'progressive rock' is only a loose approximation of our style. We also have influences from everything else we've been listening to as well.
Why this name?
Always find it tough to come up with a name. It is the title of one of the first original songs we recorded with this exact lineup and the name seemed to work.
Band History:
This band morphed out of a previous incarnation called Eclectic Electric.
Your influences?
We play with the tone and attitude of rock combined with or informed by some of the more complex structures and interplay coming from a diversity of other styles. We're calling it 'rock fusion' at the moment. Yes, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, Steve Morse, Chick Corea, Hariprasad Chaurasia and John Coltrane are all influences.
Favorite spot?
Any mountain summit that doesn't have a road to the top.
Equipment used:
Spector and Rob Allen basses, Les Pauls and Yamaha drums. Trying lots of different amps at the moment. Right now our recording set up is very simple - a 20 channel mixer and a 32 channel digital recorder.
Anything else...?
We'd appreciate any feedback on our songs and style. We keep being asked to label what we're doing and it's hard, as we are a little too close to it.
