In Too Deep
Well first and foremost, I would like to thank everyone for checking out my page. I, DJ TateDaGr8, greatly appreciate the love and support. I'm sort of a one-man-army, born and raised in Washington, D.C. and currently reside in Maryland. I'm traditionally a DJ, but recently I ventured out to become a producer. I produce tracks for Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Dance music.
Why this name?
When I was a senior in high school, an underclassman who looked up to me always called me "Tate the Great," using my last name (Tate). So when I started to DJ I couldn't come up with a stage name, then it suddenly hit me to use "Tate the Great." I spiced up the spelling and came up with, "DJ TateDaGr8"
Do you play live?
As far as producing music, one day I would like to produce a live track, with instruments. But as of right now, it's strictly digital.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet changed the music industry in good ways by making music more accessable. For example, there are many different websites, (like SoundClick), where users can create playlists and download music, without the hassle of searching record stores for certain songs and what not. Also as far as mp3, I think mp3 is allowing music to last longer without losing quality, opposed to cds, tapes, or vinyl, which can be physically damaged.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. If I'm granted the opportunity to sign with a major recording label, with certain standards, then I would be happy to be apart of their team.
