Virgin Suicide's real name is Liberty Borjal. She is known by her friends as Libby. A simple musician, painter, and writer, she started playing musical instruments at the age of nine. Over the years, she has picked up a great variety of instruments. Among them are piano, harmonica, drums, guitar, and flute. She started writing songs at the age of thirteen and at seventeen, she's come up with quite a handful of original compositions. The one thing she is most passionate about is music, which is the one thing she is willing to share with everyone out there who has the heart to hear what she has to sing.
Why this name?
Virgin Suicide came from my e-mail at gothicgirl.com, which came from the title of a book I read by Jeffrey Eugenides- "The Virgin Suicides"- which became my favorite. With the personality I have, the name definitely appeals to me. And once I have my all-girl band and if my bandmates agree, I would also probably use this name for that band.
Do you play live?
Yes, I do. I usually play in front of people I know. Last time I played publicly was at a poetry reading my org had in school. I don't get much exposure, which I'm relishing right now. I don't think I'd ever wanna get 'out in the open.'
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows people to share their music with anyone out there. It's allowed independent musicians to post their music for the world to hear.
Most of all, it gives budding musicians a chance to be heard. And believe me: a huge percentage of the world's truly talented musicians is concentrated on musicians who are unknown.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not. I'd rather be an independent musician. I wouldn't wanna sign any contract.
Band History:
I started recording my songs when I was fifteen or sixteen. Since then, I've been giving music demos to my friends. What I really wanna do is form an all-girl band, but right now, I guess I just have to make do with being a solo female artist. And if I'm stuck with that fate, then I aspire to achieve what Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, and Chantal Kreviazuk have achieved.
Your influences?
Influences behind my songs have included Adema, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, Tori Amos, Ani di Franco, and Evanescence.
Favorite spot?
a silent corner in a park at night
Equipment used:
My Yamaha C-40 guitar, my Whittaker upright piano, [I was able to use a Yamaha keyboard for one of my songs], my improvised percussions, my Hohner wooden soprano recorder, my Yamaha classical soprano flute, and last but not the least, my voice. Plus my mind and my brain for writing and arranging my songs.
Anything else...?
I have an online journal. I'm also in myspace and in Friendster (under the e-mail address wretched_goth@rock.com). If you have anything to say about my music, just leave a message at the message board. One other thing: I'm also part of a band called Vinyard. Please support them! Click here.
I'm putting up my music to share it with people who have the same passion as me. Basically, this site is for those who support young independent musicians regardless of the amount of experience and the "amateurness" these musicians have.
My pieces are rather intimate. They spell if not a huge part of me, then all of me. So please give my songs their due respect.
For a different kind of music from the same artist, please go to Eudoxia's page. This is me with a totally different music to offer.
