Why this name?

My name is Shanique, but my nickname is Unique. The residents of the neighbor hood that my grandmother has always lived in called me Mercy because of a fight that I got into when I was a teenager. I beat the girl so bad that she started screaming out MERCY! So it kinda just stuck with me over time.

Do you play live?

Yes I have played live in the past. But I'm mainly concentrating on my education right now. I'll probabley do about 6 shows this summer though.
I have had many special moments. But then again. Every time I get up on a stage it's very special to me.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

The internet has made the music industry much more obtainable for entry. There are all kinds of ways in which one can gain knowledge of how to reach there artistic goals. Plus there'sthe documentationary appeal of things. You can have someone follow your carrer right along with you, and never know that your being paid inetrest to.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Hell Yes!!!...

The G-Boys, and Joe Blackwolf are my mentors. They have been so helpful in my growth as a producer, composer, and artist.

There are so many things that I have learned since I became involved in the production, and engineering of music. It has been a God send for me, and for my emotional well being.
I have grown as a person, and matured in a multitude of ways. It's easier for me to decipher my feelings, and to understand how the heart works. When I had no music in my heart, I had no way to be able to be more personable with others.
Now over the years I have gained skills that I lacked in the beginning of my musical indeavors. Much needed ones to. Because i think that I sucked at first! But i kept on trying, and now here I am able to listen back, analyze, and know that. Though I am not Beyonce, or Timberland, I am Unique Mercy, and Unique Mercy has her own style.
