We are The F.I.B.s. It is a name. It and we do not stand for anything in particular and our one rule is, "To serve the music"! The band is primarily a 3-piece unit consisting of Jim Fairfield, Stan Oparka and Paul Pittman.
We do original music. Our sound ranges from a heavy, older Sabbath feel to a Robert Frippish interpretation of King Crimson. In short, don't pigeon hole us into one specific sound or type of rock music.
We are not kids either. We have all been around the block a couple times and are in this project to explore our own sound and songs. We are not egotistical maniacs stuck on own own belief that we are God's answer to music. In fact, we thoroughly enjoy getting together with others for jam sessions if for no other reason, then to do something different and see where it leads to.

Why this name?
We're not really sure. We went through a process of eliminating various names for whatever reasons, and really couldn't think of anything to eliminate it. In fact, we thought of many different reasons to have fun with it.
Do you play live?
Currently, we do play out live but in limited roles as we are focusing on recording the many songs that we have in our notebooks.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It greatly increases the exposure of bands and personalizes them to potential fans. Sometimes too much.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If offered, yes.
Your influences?
Our influences range from The Beatles to Queens Of The Stone Age. Our individual tastes are what bring us together collectively and give us a very unique sound that remains fun.
Equipment used:
Jim uses either a Strat or prefers his Tele. Paul uses an Ibanez bass and Stan uses Ludwig drums, made right near his home in Chicago!
