DJSparkEE started listening to hardcore, breakbeat, jungle and dat back in 94,
He bought some soundlab dlp3's off a mate and got hooked, later switching to gemeni pt2000's and 12.10's. Started mixing with bigbeat and breakbeat back in 97 runnin free parties up and down the coast and playing at local events, later started building the jungle collection up together as was getting inspired by the tunes that were coming out at the time belonging to the musical masterminds in the scene such as Roni Size, Hype, Andy C. Started checkin out events such as Slammin, Skelter and Innovation and instantly knew where he wanted to see himself, experiencing that atmosphere that drum and bass creates is an overwhelming feeling. Early 99 got locked down which gave me time to think about where I was goin and what I wanted and came out extra positive towards the dnb scence.
Late 2000 Sparkee started playing in clubs in Portsmouth/Southsea for promoters such as Vurt, Future dark technologies and Pick n mix, playing alongside the likes of Lynx and Jarman/Raiden and many others. The name was getting heard so he went to college learning music technology/production to venture into another level. If u Listien to his sets u would describe style as being upfront with fat beats, raw rugged basslines and a slight ragga touch.
July 01 joined www.LondonLiveAndDirect.com runnin a two hour slot firstly fortnightly then weekly teamin up with DJ Catch runnin the 'Catch and Sparkee show' every Tuesday 10-12pm uk time. Live and direct has been a big help with promotion world-wide aswell as UK working with L.L.A.D and WWFM DJ's on the circuit making contacts regularly.
Playing on radio stations across uk such as llad + ukrumble and having performed for promoters such as Vurt, Jungleravers and many others. Sparkee is currently in studio producing some fat beats working alongside producers and vocalists in the industry and has signed his first record deal with LLAD and having others in the pipeline. Currently using Reason 2, Cubase SX, Logic and live with various software/hardware, plug-ins and has his own dubs. Watch this space!!
