-Trying to Bring Back The SoulSound-
Why this name?
My name was not chosen by me, it is my birth name. It fits me quite well.
Do you play live?
I do play live, I play drums and keys as well as sing. I live for live music, there is nothing like that feeling.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the net will change it simply because big labels won't be needed to get popular. Many of the best artists were NOT found directly by Sony, Jive etc. They were found online.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would, but i would want to have it so that i am not stiffed in the end as so many acts have been.
Band History:
Darius Mines was born to two parents, a singing mother and a singing and playing father. At a young age, he was exposed to quite a bit of music from his parents' involvement in church. He was indeed "brought up in the choir stand." As he began to grow as a child, his interest in instrumental music began to grow, and he chose drums as his first instrument. By 4 years old, he was playing for the church children's choir, and by 6 he was playing with the youth choir.
Darius hit a growth spurt of sorts in his middle to high school years, not only physically but musically. He joined the school concert band program, where he learned the foundational aspects of music, as well as a love for the orchestral side that is normally overlooked.
High school pushed Darius farther into music, by him joining the marching band side, in which he played trombone and drums. High school was also the time when Darius really spread his wings and let the gifts he had been given come out. He began to play the piano, the trombone, the guitar, and he began to sing. He found his singing voice by listening to his favorite artists and imitating them. With a little encouragement from his mother and some of his closest friends, Darius wrote his first song.
Ever since that day, he has gotten deeper into music, and is working to be the ultimate jack of all trades; be it writing, singing, playing, conducting, arranging or producing, Darius Mines plans to have what it takes to get the job done with excellence.
