I am a solo artist using FL Studio to make free music. This is just a free time thing. My most recent music (i.e. Stuff not for download yet) will be on my myspace page. I made this to upload my older songs for my friends to download and anyone else who likes my stuff. Please be kind, DO ASK ME FIRST if you want to use one of my songs in a video for youtube or something. All I ask is that you get my permission first. I will almost always say yes, unless you make a video or something which I do not wish to be a part of or object to the content of which. If you try to contact me here and I dont respond, try my myspace. I'll be glad to answer any questions there. Please do not steal my music and upload it as yours. I spend a lot of time making these and you would not appreciate it if someone stole your hard work. It's common sense really. I dont care if you download my stuff and burn it onto cd to show your friends or just to listen to yourself. If you do, direct anyone to my myspace and tell them to ADD ME :P
Why this name?
I was changing my name again for the 3rd time (1st: PLEASE INSERT DISC 3, 2nd: THE MECHA PLAGUE) and I was listening to the visual kei band "D." they have a song called "Glacial Melt" and it just stuck with me :)
Do you play live?
I do not play live. I simply make the songs, spit them out of FL Studio, and put them on myspace, then here eventually
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's great for unsigned artists who do not have time or funds to print cds. Indie and Major label artists benefit to since most people like to have digital music in their collection.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. I simply do not take this project seriously enough to make it a full time job :P
Band History:
I'm gonna go through my electronic history. I have a history with bands and such but those are irrelevant to this project.
In fall of 2006 was when I first learned about FL Studio. I acquired the program and began to toy with it and made HORRIBLE songs under the name "Darkness Glare." I made a 6 song demo and burned exactly 5 copies and gave them to my friends. They told me it was alright, but it was BAD (in fact, I still joke about it with a friend who still has the disc I gave her XD). I didn't make any songs again until summer of 2007 when I started the project "New Sorpigal" (name taken from the first town in the PC game Might and Magic VI). It was basically the same thing as "Darkness Glare", except I used pads and strings with it. It was also my first venture with vocals and I quickly reuploaded the tracks without them. I made an unreleased 4 song demo with this and the project was soon forgotten. In the fall of 2007 I made 4 songs under the name "Jenga Towers Collide" (the myspace is still there to this day). I simply upped the tempos to 300+ and added harsh vocals (Screams, growls) to the songs. I quickly got bored with it and I was starting to tire of FL Studio because it was starting to dawn on me that I couldn't make decent music with it :P. It was the summer of 2008 when I began my 4th venture called "Please Insert Disc 3." It was similar to "JTC" except I used the slayer plugin with it and I learned the joys of the piano roll (this is key to my current state with the program :]). I made 3 songs (2 of which are on the "JTC" profile) and quickly removed them. I began to toy with abstract styles and I made much more melodic music. Eventually the project evolved into "The Mecha Plague" in August 2008 and starting from there the songs are available. I used lots of 8bit and 16bit sounds with this project and I made a relatively popular (at least among my friends) song called "hamSTAR". I soon changed the name in October of 2008 to "Glacial Melt." That is where I am today. I am currently working on my upcoming full length album "System of Sol." You can find a few of the tracks from the upcoming album on my myspace page.
