Solatrus - Electronic music from Michigan, USA.

Why this name?
Originally, my artist name was DarkStar, based on a gaming name I used in quite a few communities, however, I grew tired of the name, so I changed it.

Solatrus is a combination of the Latin words solus, meaning sun, and atrus, meaning darkness. Combined, you loosely get "Sun of Darkness," or "DarkStar."
Do you play live?
I do stream live online at UStream at times, but I'd really love to do some real live shows.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it honestly improves the music industry, because underground artists can get more exposure, and therefore, more fans. Music is an art that everyone deserves a chance with.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Possibly, only if they wouldn't force me to change my style or steal the rights to my music. My music is MY MUSIC. It's my art.
Band History:
I've been a musician for most of my life, classically trained originally, taking piano lessons in the earlier part of my life. Eventually, though, I began to make up tunes in my head, and I'd mess around with them on my still functioning Yamaha PSR-230 MIDI Keyboard.

So, when I actually got into writing music I was completely new to electronic music. I was shown a few programs, like Fruityloops 3.56, Acid, and Reason back in early 2001. I found FL to be the easiest to use, so I stuck with it.

I've come to enjoy most styles of electronic music, but in particular I like Trance, Dream, Darkwave, and DnB all mixed with elements of Hip-Hop, Rock, or Classical. Especially Classical.
