Coming from a violent and abusive past, Rush 99 has pulled himself out of the trenches and landed on his feet as the CEO and Founder of Independent record label Club Havoc Enterprisez Est. 1999. Rush 99 raised in Milwaukee, WI now residing in Humboldt County, CA, has managed to burst his way into the very fierce competitive industry of Underground Hip Hop scene! He has maintained goals of “repaying” the Underground for the lessons music has taught him during life’s hard trials. Throughout his 13 year stretch in independent self -taught/ classroom music experiences, he has managed to get his crews music heard as well. Club Havoc AKA Da VOC has gained respect and positive feed back from the community and other local musicians. A well known respected local Humboldt County Disc jockey, DJ Ray, has commented on the accomplishments coming out of The VOC, “I'm really feelin… “Slide Down“, “Life is like da Road” and “Something Like a Hero“.. I believe them are the names. I can see my crowed dancin to them trax, You should get me a cd when you get the chance..” -Ray- Myspace Oct.11th, 2008
As a youth, Rush has always been involved in music from creating beats knocking on tables, singing in church choirs to writing lyrics and melodies in elementary school. Watching legends on T.V. from Big Pun, Notorious B.I.G., 2pac and Big L to Tech Nine, Three Six Mafia, NWA, Jay-Z and The Screwed Up Click, he has molded his Midwest/West Coast sound. Utilizing this grand list of Hip Hop embassadors, Rush is creating his independent music mark on the industry. R. 99 has worked with and been apart of many independent hip hop labels/artist along his career from California to Maine and continues to bring them all together to be heard. After losing his mom in ‘06, 99 has put forth his best efforts in making his mom proud by currently working the solo debut album “Business Man” under Club Havoc Enterprisez coming in 2009.

Going from battle rapping in the streets to dropping flows in the studio, the Voc crew continues on making there mark in the Underground. Between all the different obstacles that life has thrown at him, he just wants to put on for his cities and get his crew heard to remind people about real hip hop! With slappers coming out of CHE like “Business Man” from R.99, “La Fiesta” from L-BO, and “Different Ways” by Snake, they are on there way to the top. Why this name?
Rush is actually my real name and 99 came from me spittin 99 flows before I was 13
Do you play live?
Yes I play live anywhere!!!!! I have always loved performing live because it is my way of giving back to the fans and giving them a good evening worth of great music!!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it hurts and helps the industry. I come from an era where we was use to buying cds and music. So to the artist it drops the physical units. It also really helps an artist get there nusic heard in far away places and people they may not be able to reach the traditional way.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes and no. Honestly I like being independent and the challenges it brings. I would just for the fact that we can achieve more quicker but I wouldnt want to change what I do or who I am just to be on a big label. So I guess it all depends on what the big label is offering.
Your influences?
Honestly people. People and life are my biggest influences. Music is a report for me of my years and what I have seen and been through. Also they are ways for me to communicate how I feel and what I would like to see happen in life and in the world. My peeps I love yall shout out to Club Havoc Enterprisez!!!!! YEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
