Canavar is a musical group created in 2008 by Canbek Alakay. All music is written and produced by Canbek Alakay and performed by Canavar. Canavar consists of six teens from the small town of Lyndhurst, New Jersey. They feature Canbek Alakay (vocals, guitar), Tanner Akman (bass), Erdi Demirbulakli (drums), Engin Alakay (keys), Bora Onater (percussion), Brian Cha (clarinet).
The group fuses their parents old Turkish folk and psych 45s with dripping industrial and Rubber Soul. Most work by Canavar is heavily influenced by musical legends such as Erkin Koray and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Whether it be the bumping bass lines, bombastic drums, or arabian guitar, Canavar strives to push the envelope as far as possible.
