OptimisGFN,a rebel emcee out of Cambridge,MA.
Optimis first discovered hiphop when his dad told him to turn up the radio. That song on the radio was Public Enemy's"Shut'Em Down".After that day OptimisGFN was everywhere recitin Chuck D's vocal movement until he learned to create his on ways of"fighting the power".
This year will be the begining of a new era with the release of his Ep"Sound Paragon" thru the new up and comin label Beyond Space Entertainment, the world will not be ready.
Why this name?
My favorite cartoon was Transformers.Even though thats not how I got the name.GFN,is short for Guardian Force Nirvana. This is the combination of self and religion that seeks more for inner peace than another God.
Do you play live?
I play live any chance I get,I love performing and traveling.I really haven't been anywhere live except on the east coast but I'm sure there will be more opportunities soon
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it can be a benefit and a pain.On the good side of things,it helps people like me who are tryin to make their footprints deep and get going on the voyage. It hurts when you're album is leaked out after all the hard work you put into the record for some bootlegger gettin all the doe. It's just plain wack.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yea,if they gave me complete control of my projects.I'm very stubborn and want to be aware of everything that goes on with the label I'm on.
Your influences?
I can sit here and go on for days what my influences are.But I'ma have to say that alot of 70's soul is in me.I feel that was the years of loving the music.I love my music to the fullest and that reminds me of alot of soul song that was played to me when I was younger
Favorite spot?
