AMANZMIND has been into hip-hop since before he could walk, but has been doin music since '91. That's right the golden time frame of true hip-hop. So you know that what you will hear from this cat is nothing but authentic, straight from the heart hip-hop you can feel...
Why this name?
I was at a time in my life when I wasn't quite sure what it was I was going to do or where I was headed... The only one thing to trust when one's feeling like that is A MANZ MIND...
Do you play live?
I've done shows before, when I was just starting out, and the main thing I remember is people in the crowd getting involved in the songs... They were really feelin it..
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
To a certain extent, but I see it like this, there's negative and positive to everything in life. So you can't dwell on how things change, you can only focus on the way things are.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
There are a lot of things that I would have to consider before jumping into something like that. But to keep it simple, if it was a good deal and opportunity I would...
Band History:
I started out over instrumentals, as we've learned the majority of hip-hop artists do. But it's been about twelve years now. I went from two turntables just mixin down instro's for something to rhyme over to makin and producin my own songs. I've came a long way since then, but I always like to think back to the days of middleschool beat boxin in the hallways and havin freestyle sessions with my boys. I did a couple of shows as a kid at some Recreation Centers in England and just took it from there. It all started kind of fast and just stuck with me. I've been doin it ever since.
Your influences?
Yo, first and foremost I definately gotta give it to Mobb Deep. Everyone who knows me knows exactly what I mean when I say that. But to say nothing less about the rest. I listen to Nas, B.I.G., M.O.P., LoX, Wu, Def Squad, Sermon, Jedi Mind, Reks, Slang politix, and the list goes on. There are a lot of cats out there that I don't mind listening to, but then there are those that shouldn't be where they're at... not hatin', just speakin the truth.
Favorite spot?
I don't really think that I can answer that based on the fact of livin in so many different places, but I would have to say I love the East Coast, no specific area...
