My brother taught me the guitar when I was in the 5th grade, using my Mom's old steel string classical guitar with horrible string action. Ouch...I can still remember how my fingers hurt. My first song was "Venus". When I was a teenager growing up, my mom had a record of a solo guitarist named Bill Harris. I used to listen to it over and over. I never learned to read music, but I picked up Lullaby of Birdland and Poinciana. I have always enjoyed the feel and peacefullness of the solo guitar.
Do you play live?
In school and college I played bass and guitar in rock bands, but always enjoyed the quiet of acoustic music. Now I only play for personal enjoyment.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Being able to share music on the internet is a great way to enjoy all kinds of music. Music is such a personal thing.
Your influences?
Bill Harris, Pat Metheny
Favorite spot?
Cincinnati, New Mexico and Colorado
Equipment used:
Art & Lutherie Ami Pro 3/4 size clasical guitar
