At the age of five, Lauri Jo was drawn to the piano and began her formal training. Her love for the piano has paved the way for her to compose pop music. Lauri’s vocal talents were illustrated with chorus and church choral groups and as time permitted she studied opera for several years. Having moved to New York City in the 1990’s, Lauri worked on a variety of musical projects with different songwriters as well artists and producers. In 1996 Lauri formed her own band, A Girl Named Jo. Performing her own original music at various clubs throughout Long Island from Stephens Talk House to Nells and throughout the New York Metropolitan area. Lauri also toured Germany for 6 months as a solo act under the sponsorship of Marlboro. Lauri’s most recent appearances were 6 months touring solo, and recording in Canada. As of the immediate past Lauri has been recording new material. Her talents have enabled her to combine homegrown rock, country, blues, and r&b style. In short, Lauri has developed a raw, emotional, energetic, and edgy style that is clearly honest and evident in her voice, music, and lyrics.
