description
15 second media spot
This music is a blend of genres ranging from smooth jazz to new age to modern classical - very romantic and spiritually uplifting.
Why this name?
Robert Scott Stanton is my name. The only decision I had to make was to include my middle name which I've done to disambiguate myself from Robert Stanton the actor and Robert Stanton, another musician who does fine guitar work.
Do you play live?
Gigs pending.
I've gigged for over 30 years - special moments among others are a gig with Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers and also Mickey Thomas of Starship; also the fine guitarist from the Eddie Money era Jimmy Lyon. Another great moment, though not a gig of mine, was meeting Joe Walsh and having a candid shot taken together just before he went on at Shoreline Amphitheater in California. In life there are many 'moments', most of mine have been related to music. And I won't even get started with my story about Paul McCartney's end of tour party at the Harold Lloyd mansion in LA - I was there! "Oh it was a scene man" ;-)

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In many ways - accessibility to music - the choices available are over the top and this is a beautiful thing for everyone - but quality sometimes suffers. The internet potentially usurps the stronghold the major labels have had on the public and musicians alike.
In a perfect world music would be abundant and eclectic enough to touch the emotional preferences of all people and would be free - but only in a world that is not based on a monetary system - at present we're all slaves to the almighty and fictitious dollar, but that's another subject. In the end, the people will decide what is important - abundance or quality and the internet is where it will happen.
Here's a tip for all of you who don't want to pay for music here - though my tunes are limited in duration since they are for sale, you can listen in low-fi and hear all the songs in their entirety - albeit, they don't sound as good.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Under the right circumstances I might, however I'm currently signed to a relatively modest sized label that has been wonderful to work with.
Band History:
See BIOGRAPHY on main page-
Your influences?
The Beatles, George Winston, Michael Jones, a little Aaron Copeland, Dave Grusin; Chopin; Shostakovitch; Debussy and many others; honestly, too many to list.
Favorite spot?
The planet Earth has so many places of beauty - it's not so much where I am inasmuch as who I'm with. ;-)
Equipment used:
When I am supported by a company I'll endorse them.
Anything else...?
Know the difference between a computer sound file and the quality of a physical CD. Have you ever heard the music in your well known sound device or other non-CD sound device and heard some form of distortion? This is due to the compression or simply poor engineering - this is not something you'll hear on a professional CD - in fact you'll hear everything you're supposed to hear on a CD. Obviously I strongly suggest purchasing physical CDs over computer files.

Merlin is a lovely piece with an upbeat tempo. The music creates a feeling of being alive and tranquility. I imagine myself sitting in front of a cozy fire as I'm watching Robert's fingers quickly dancing on the black and white keys. Great composition!

Music has soul! By the Wing of an Angel is moving, brings up emotions, soothing, wonderful composition. I feel Robert put his heart into this song with passion; self-expression conjuring emotions for the listener that changes with time.

The more I listened to Robert's music, the greater my appreciation for his technical skills as an artist.
When I listen to Robert's songs, it's as though I'm viewing a painting that I never get tired of. There is always something new to hear, which was missed previously. Therefore, always invigorating. His songs are moving in many ways, which made made me add his CD to my collection.
