My name is Bryce Crawford, AKA B-Vinyl. I produce and compose Hip Hop beats and songs for fun, but hopefully one day i can turn my hard work into profits. I go to school at Oregon State University and am getting my degree in Microbiology. I've been making beats for 2 or 3 years now, but I've been making music for most of my teenage years, at least since I was 13 years old.
Why this name?
I chose the name B-Vinyl because it really reflects what I am trying to portray, a new school kid trying to make it in the old school world.
Do you play live?
i do not play live, unfortunately. Right now, I am too busy with school to do anything, but I do occasionally have my friends over to my dorm to hear my new beats. They seem to enjoy them.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is really bittersweet in regards to the music industry. Filesharing and the mass dispersing of music through the internet has both created larger fanbases for musicians and also reduced profits for CDs and songs for that artist. I am really torn about the issue.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes.
Band History:
there is not much history yet. I used to make techno/electronica songs, but I switched over to old school hip hop and have loved it ever since.
Your influences?
Any type of music can influence me, its just up to me to allow that to happen. Motown, Jazz, Country, Heavy Metal, Trance, Emo, all of those types of music can influence me, and my audience can really hear that in my music. I prefer to listen to classical conductors and 20's era jazz musicians.
Favorite spot?
San Jose, CA.
Equipment used:
Fruity loops and Sony Acid pro, until I save up enough money to splurge on Technics.
Anything else...?
Sit back, relax, and listen.
