Hey everyone thanks for stopping by our page, were an alternative rock band from Scranton, PA (Yes, the home of the TV show The Office). We've been up and about for about 5 years now, playing gigs in PA, NY, and NJ.
Why this name?
We chose Awkward Silence back in 8th grade, so basically it was because we thought it was cool. However, as the years progressed, we realized that it was no longer cool. Since were procrastinators, though, we still haven't changed it. Let us know if you have any suggestions!
Do you play live?
Of course! We play basically anywhere in the tri-state area, from house shows to major-label productions. We love playing live, we have the greatest fans in the world, and they are the reason why we have such incredible energy. If they giveth, we taketh........and giveth back? But anyways the best moment of our careers was when we played with Bayside in Scranton, and right when we were about to go on everyone was screaming and clapping and generally just flipping out (like we said, thank god for our hometown crowd). The soundcheck just got done, and the soundman yelled through the monitors "Thats it boys, YOUR ON!". The drums kicked in, there was a roar from the crowd, and all of a sudden this incredible energy just buzzed in the room, and it was something none of us had ever felt before. It was an amazing experience, and it really changed our perspective about what a live show can be.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We believe that it has its pros and its cons. It is definitely great for promotion and letting people hear your music, which is a plus. However, mp3 format really degrades the quality of a song, and we pride our music on how every note fits together. If there was the possibility of vinyl-quality recording on the internet, that would be the best situation. As far as it changing the music industry, the only thing that it changes are cd sales, and that's not really bothering us too much. These days, money is made off touring, and anyways, that's more fun.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Naturally! Actually.......about that.......
