Why this name?
We chose the word ALMS due to the meaning "Gifts for the needy", the process of giving from the abundance of our creativity to encourage, inspire and empower others to greater self love and the love of others through the example of our living for giving.
We fuse and blend a lot of different genres into a core of Jazz/Contemporary Piano. However the sound is essentially electronic, composed from electronic keyboards and computer which is why we have categorised Alms as Electronica instead of Jazz or Soundtracks.

Do you play live?
I prefer to be studio based as my day job is managing the career of multi platinum selling singer YULIA www.yulia.co.nz However, I do play for special events on request when I can fit this in. I prefer events with some kind of positive message. I'm open minded about live projects but what really turns me on is collaboration with other artists for specific events that have a positive social impact.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Freedom of expression! The downside is that there is so much content now that it is much more important to ensure you have incredible music that moves people. I have always believed it is better to be different than it is to be better. My aim to be create music that moves people emotionally and that inspires the person at a deep level. If I achieve that with even one person, then that's success for me. If I can do that with millions of people that's great too. Ultimately this means the power sits with the artist and the audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely. I've turned down offers in the past from NAXOS and EMI because I simply wasn't ready and didn't understand my own brand and I think timing is everything. I'm really into what I'm doing with ALMS ELECTRONICA and if there is potential to form a partnership to reach more people and share the profits than of course I would explore that potential enthusiastically.
Band History:
I would rather let the music speak for itself. That might sound a little lame at this point. I'd like to see if people can connect with the music and gain some insight into how people are receiving it without any bias about what I've done in the past and what I'm connected with.
Your influences?
I think Alan Parsons is my greatest musical inspiration. Robert Miles, Van Gelis, Dave Grusin.
