Dr. Bob's Jazz Boppin' Bebop Quartet - JBBQ - is ECLECTIVE JAZZ set to music genres unlimited...from Bop to Pop to Latin to other music like Electronica - Hip Hop - Americana - Rock - Classical - and Miscellany.
JBBQ's unique Bebop Jazz sound comes from the song inside of everything -
albeit animal, vegetable, mineral, or far beyond. Hence the surreal and real counterpoint of the instruments - like distant reverb pianos - with right
up front solid bass lines - combined with different and/or alternating beats -the highest and lowest of notes - coupled with the essence of usually
disparate music genres blended as one or more euphonic jazz elements.
All of Dr. Bob's Jazz Boppin Bebop Quartet - JBBQ - songs are original - in
more ways than one - as described in the subsequent info on the nature of the band. Each JBBQ song is a story. JBBQ music is about our inner and outer lives - from happy to sad to the rediculous and sublime as well as the stellar worlds. JBBQ music was created as "ear art" for the Mind, Body,
and Spirit of the listener and/or player. And was invented for instant music

Why this name?
We thought that such a long band moniker, of strange JAZZ/BEBOP/ECLECTIC nature, would either
catch attention - or at the least - our acronym "JBBQ" would be easier/easy to remember.
catch attention - or at the least - our acronym "JBBQ" would be easier/easy to remember.
Do you play live?
We do not play live as "JBBQ". (However, many of the musicians associated with JBBQ play live either professionally or in special concerts/performances around the world. All of our JBBQ music is strictly for Internet Play and/or
free song downloads - thanks to financial support from private/confidential
sponsors of JBBQ.)
free song downloads - thanks to financial support from private/confidential
sponsors of JBBQ.)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This question has become obsolete! The business of music has already become Internet based via electronic entertainment gadgets and programs. The old "music industry" is a thing of the past - with the present and future of music recording, production, etcetera unlimited in myriad new ways restricted only by the imagination!!!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
JBBQ has our own private Record Company, SILVER BAY RECORDS - but we have not chosen to market our music as long as our policy of free song downloads via the Internet remains possible due to outside sources of non-profit financial support.
Band History:
The short of the long story is, other than founder/front man Dr. Bob (and rare other individual attribution), all of the JBBQ "Guys" (from quartet, sextet and even orchestra at times) choose to remain anonymous for various personal and professional musician/music business reasons (ranging from contractual to family to other restrictive matters). And members of JBBQ live in scattered areas of the world from France to England to Serbia to Germany to United States to elsewhere. Most of our music is
for small ensemble, but when we go Classical or require orchestral backing, we use other world class players/friends in various symphony orchestras. Concerning the basic JBBQ core group for Jazz related songs and other eclectic music, we get together as possible a few times a year
from Paris to London to Belgrade to Timbuktu. But it is difficult to arrange such music sessions. Thus, we mainly use Internet/Computers/Programs for collabortive songs or
"collabs" as commonly used for "making music long distance" via the Internet.

Equipment used:
You name it and we have probably used it at one time or another. Of course, all of the traditional musical instruments as well as many of the more non-traditional ranging from
ancient to modern including much of electronica. But the Computer and the Internet (as explained earlier in the info on "Band History") makes
JBBQ possible, as we know it.

I was wondering how the great jazzer Dr Bob would approach the 80s theme... and this is it! Kenny G - a man with a haircut almost as ridiclous as mine own, but one hell of a soprano player! Lovely playing in this with fantastic piano in there too. And guitar. Great stuff
