Hippie Party!
A rock music show that pays tribute to a generation of peace and love that flourished between 1968 and 1973.
A family friendly show, the band brings the stage to life in colorful hippie attire. A light show accompanies their music that reflects the energy and spirit of that period in time. A time when folk music merged into rock! When a free, loving spirit embraced the hearts and minds of young people. Hippie party is not a "band tribute" event. It is a fond remembrance of the hippie movement itself. Guests are encouraged to attend in hippie dress.
Michael "Buffalo" Samaritano (guitar/vocal) was a stunt man and brings excitement to the stage and audience with his wild antics and vocal renditions of Neil Young, James Taylor and Rolling Stones songs.
Band leader (keyboardist/vocalist/songwriter), John "Big Byrd" Covert, has opened shows for Tower of Power, Simon & Garfunkel, Sons of Champlin, Chad and Jeremy, Gary US Bonds and many others. His original songs are included in a European CD release ("California love-in") that also features "Steppenwolf. Featured in the show are songs of the grateful dead, jefferson airplane, jessie collin young, scott mackenzie, bob dylan, creedence clearwater, rolling stones, beatles and more..

Why this name?
John: I "lived and loved" the hippie movement and have always had a passion to recreate the musical and emotional atmosphere so that others who were "hippies" could bring their children to see what it was like. We encourage guests to come in hippie fashion. It's all about a celebration of life, love and peace!
Do you play live?
Throughout California and Nevada.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has been good to us. I've leased a lot of our vintage albums overseas and am getting good digital sales on cdbaby and other internet outlets. We've had original songs placed on VH1 tv shows, tnn, abc, a&e and more.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
They only seem to be distributors now. I get regular royalties through BMI and my agents using my own publishing company. I'm a happy camper! I love the new music scene.
Band History:
Crystal Image and crystal image music BMI was formed in 1968.
Your influences?
scott mackenzie, the band, james taylor, the stones, creedence, ray charles, bb king, jefferson airplane
