Cory Sipper
"Melodies float effortlessly, lyrics stir your conscience, and a glistening, serene voice emotes an angelic passion rarely seen. It is only a matter of time before she joins the pantheon of treasured American songwriters." -Album Network
Who is Cory Sipper? A singer-songwriter from Santa Barbara, California who began writing and performing her songs at age twelve. Cory attended The Berklee College of music for a year in 1991 and has since recorded and released four albums on her own label Drumdrum Records. Her early influences include Carol King, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens and James Taylor.
"Combining perceptive lyrics with angelic vocals, time and space dissolve in the settings that take shape throughout singer-songwriter Cory Sipper's third album. Calling to mind the works of Aimee Mann and Sinead Lohan, Sipper's chilling ballads, engaging rockers, and heavenly acoustic tapestries coalesce around themes of personal conviction and spiritual regeneration. High-caliber musicianship and production further elevate the independently produced release. Sipper has lofty aspirations and, thankfully, talent to match."--Amazon.com
Cory is the defined "Independent Artist." Although she has been courted throughout the years by independent and major labels alike she continues on her own steady path; putting out albums and touring as much as possible. Her song "Nervous" has charted on radio in Japan and in the U.S.
Cory says: When my third album "Swimology" was released in Japan in ’97 I went over there to tour. It was a defining experience. When I got back it was apparent that I needed to be connecting with live audiences on a consistent basis. Since then I have devoted a large part of my life to playing colleges, clubs, theaters and coffeehouses across America."
Blending acoustic, pop, folk and rock, Cory touches listeners with her uncanny ability to write and perform with heart and purity. One fan describes Cory’s music as "Music to enjoy and dream to." Another described Cory’s latest album, "Orbiter" as "...the soundtrack to my life."
"On 'Orbiter' Cory Sipper proves she's nobody's satellite, she's her own planet." - Performing Songwriter
Cory has worked with and/or shared the stage with such artists as: Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket), Peter Himmelman, Mick Fleetwood & Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac), Dan Fogelberg, Steve Lukather, Joan Jones and The Samples.
"Cory Sipper is one of the most creative and talented singer/songwriters I have heard in a long time." - Mick Fleetwood
"I rarely endorse anyone but when I first heard Cory play live I was totally mesmerized. She is so authentic! I heard so many of my favorite styles of music in her, yet she made it all sound original."- Sean Kelly (The Samples)
Cory plays live either solo acoustic or with a full band. Band members have included Brad Cobb, Bruce Winter (bass), Randy Guss, Erik Herzog (drums), Rob Taylor, Neale Heywood (guitar.) When she is not on the road she lives in a little magical cottage in downtown Santa Barbara, CA with her two cats.
Cory Says: It takes courage to do what your heart desires in this world. I believe it is possible to do what you love. My music is who I am! It’s that simple.
More blurbs about Cory:
The Los Angeles Times
"Sipper's voice is as big as all outdoors."
Ussounds Magazine
"It only takes a few seconds of listening to Sipper's extraordinary voice to recognize the immense talent behind this singer/songwriter."
The Santa Barbara Independent
"'Orbiter' is a heavenly evolution."
The Muses Muse - A Songwriters Resource
"If music is a drug, this girl is dangerous; her songwriting is of a caliber rarely seen"
The Santa Barbara News Press
"Sipper's last album 'Swimology', was to my ears, one of the most listenable, consistent and downright fascinating records that I had ever heard from a Santa Barbara musician, and I had heard a lot. 'Orbiter' to me feels much the same but more personal and a little bit more fun."
The Exponent (University Alabama Huntsville campus paper): "You might call her down- to-earth, unassuming and kind. You might call her fetching, stylish and lovable. Then again you could just say Cory Sipper is one of the coolest and most talented chicks around."

Why this name?
Actually my full name is Cordelia Elizabeth Sipper..but I think that's a bit dramatic for a stage name. Everyone calls me Cory and that's what I feel most comfortable with.
Do you play live?
yeah- as much as possible all over the US. Colleges, clubs, coffeehouses, theaters and livingrooms. Let me know if you know of a great place for me to play!!!
If you make it big..?
I'll buy the most expensive wet cat food for my cats to eat EVERY day.
Band History:
I play with several different groups of people depending on the place and availablity of the members. They are all sweeties and their names are:
Brad Cobb, Bruce Winter- BASS
Rob Taylor- GUITAR
Randy Guss, Brian Zalewski- DRUMS, PRECUSSION
Neale Heywood- KEYBOARDS, GUITAR

Your influences?
I like traditional singer/songwriter styles and thus these people influenced me: Carol King, James Taylor, Aimee Mann, Cat Stevens.
Favorite spot?
depends on so much! come on! ok. one favorite is: my bedroom when the sun is coming through the window just right and the incense is burning and the stereo is on. Maybe on a Sunday when everything is slowed down. Guitar close by and friends and family all a few blocks away.
Equipment used:
Taylor Guitar, Seinheiser Microphone
Anything else...?
At every crossroad follow your dream. It is courageous to let your heart lead the way.
