The name was chosen as a play on the phrase "Day late, dollar short". The members have all had dealing and agreements with different labels, at different times, with different bands. Never quite panning out as everyone dreams. Members of the group have "been there" but ended up a mere "Penny Short" in the end.

Members of the group have performed live for many years, just never together as Penny Short. Talks however, have started, and it is only a matter of time.

The Internet has proven to be a double edged sword. On one side, it makes it very possible for a group, anywhere in the world, to get their music heard and in the hands of people that appreciate it, anywhere in the world. On the OTHER side, EVERYONE has same access and the internet is highly cluttered with a lot of music that needs a lot of junk making it almost impossible to find something worthwhile simply "by chance." People need to know exactly who/what they are looking for, or spend a lot of time wading through garbage to find that diamond.

Sure, the "right" contract would still be a no brainier. A major label still creates an immediate sense of legitimacy to any musical act. Whether the act proves to be worthy or not eventually pans out, but the initial recognition is still a huge benefit.

Influences range from Bach & Beethoven to Cannibal Corpse including everything between. The group isn't trying to sound like, emulate, or write in any specific direction. What they get is what they get, and luckily enough, people thus far like it.
