How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It eliminates the ability for a band to sell an entire album using a single song; the one-hit wonder is dead. The idea of "the album", once defined by how much the media it was on could hold (40-min on 8 Track; 60 on Cassette; 120 on CD), has now been undone. No band produces a DVD or a hard drive's worth of material. Without this framework in place, a new order is arising, where hi-content singles are released along with art, video and other materials at a much higher rate than albums once did. This happens most in the independent scene.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but non-exclusively
Band History:
Jaya Prime entered the music community as a remixer in the year 2000. Following on this, he turned to mixing full sets. Six full albums and a subskription-based mix were produced over the course of the next six years. Once signed to Trochlear Recordings, Jaya began composing original tracks. His first album with Trochlear, "IO Limiters", was released in January, 2006. "IO Limiters" was filled with the breakbeat, trip-hop sound that has become attached to the name "San Jaya Prime". Soon after this, he became a co-owner of the Trochlear label, remaining fixed on a future creating music.
