Wazzup my fellow Jesus Freaks! Dis is yo boy Da Oracle ready to set this Ministry off right. The stuff that I'm doin iz not for entertainment. Dis iz a ministry, a movement, a crusade. Don't get dis ministry twisted. We don't rap about Jesus we rap for Jesus know what I'm sayin. People say Christian rap is lame and da beats are all wacky and it ain't nuthin like da stuff we hear on da radio but I want to change all that. I want to show that christians can be just as cool, fun, and raw as tha other secular rappers out there. And u wanna know who's gonna help me do dat... All of you. Da Cuztomers... So thank you for tuning in and I hope u learn sumthin from da ministry and what I do. Thank U!!
Why this name?
I've always had trouble trying to find a name for myself. I wanted to make it sumthin complex and nice. But one day when I was praying, God chose me to use Da Oracle. He had to keep telling me becuz dats not what I wanted because I wanted sumthin that would roll of da tounge a lil better and a name dat would be more unique. Look up wat an Oracle is if u don't know. This is going to be my name from now on unless God tells me to change it.
Do you play live?
Right now I'm up and coming so .. Naw I don't play live. Right now I'm just worried about getting my music out there know what I'm sayin. But Yeah I would love to play live!! Da more people to better. Da only time I rapped live was at my local church a couple times but I would like to go bigger. But everything right now is alll gravy and maybe yall might hear me 5 years traveling across da country.LOL
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Yeah sometimes positive sometimes negative. There's a lot of piracy and all dat stuff dat people do to get ur album out there without you knowing about it. But on da good side there's a lot of legal programs like rhapsody and Itunes that make da music spread out all over da country. So overall I think da internet will change da music industry especially later on.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah. Dat iz one of my goalz. I would love to be on a major label. A lot of people pay attention to dat type of thing know what I'm sayin. So I definitely would want to get with a major label! That would help me get my message out a lot better and it would help me as I write my songs. So overall Yes I would love to.
Band History:
I just wanted to start getting serious da start of 09.
Your influences?
Musical influences. Well my first musical influence of all b4 I wanted to even get started in rap was da one and only Kirk Franklin. I loved all the cd's he came out with and everything he did. Da other man i loved was somebody who seemed to always have a track with Kirk and dat waz TobyMac. I loved to listen to DC Talk and especially his solo Cd's. After that there waz T-bone( who most of yall probably know from The Fighting Temptations movie). He is one of my recent influences. He was da first christian rapper I ever met. I won a freestyling contest with him at his concert in my hometown Charleston, SC, and got to have dinner with him and everything. Now I haven't been listening to Christian rap all my life so i'm not gonna act like I'm been a little holy boy my whole life. My secular influences include Kanye West,Talib Kweli, Common, because all of those people aren't fakes and they keep it real. Some other influences as a teen were Willie Da Kid, and Lupe Fiasco and Soulja boy. Becuz all of them got in da game young so that's what made me figure I can do it too. So here are most of my influences. And here are some I don't have time too talk about but would make da list.(GRITs, KJ-52, Marsill, John Reuben,Lil Wayne, JR Writer, La Symphony, Pigeon John, Verbs, FLYNN, 116 Clique, Trip lee, Lecrae, The Ambassador, Flame, Liquid Beats, Michael Tait, and The Cross Movement just to name a few more.
Favorite spot?
Probably Atlanta just because it's big and there's a lot to do down there. Or here in south carolina just becuz that's where most of my family lives.
