Longview, Texas-based MC J-Maica, known by his family and friends as Jamaica Darden, grew up on the south side of town. Fox Hill to be exact. Always a lover of music of all genre's the young talent made a transition from Boys II Men to Snoop Doggy Dog just before entering high school. After getting used to a new school and making new friends Jamaica was introduced to writing rhymes and joined a group called S.O.N.(The Three Most Powerful). The members of the group, Jamaica, Brad and Oleus, were destined to be together. Born the same year and in consecutive months, S.eptember, O.ctober and N.ovember, the guys met freshman year of high school. After spending countless hours writing and crafting songs over other peoples record the group won a couple local talent shows and sparked a buzz in the local music scene. Shortly after graduation The Three Most Powerful briefly dismantled while Maica went on to the Army where he served for four years. During his absence Specialist Jamaica Darden would record tracks on his own under the alias nrthstarr, and mail them home to be featured on group mixtapes. He would exercise his rhyme by battling countless rappers while serving his country in Europe. On his return from active duty Maica rejoined his group only to find that it had grown into a five man collective. While the group weathered many storms, Maica was persistent is his quest to become one of Hip Hop's elite rhyme sayers. Following the 2005 release of the groups long awaited "Return to Glory" mixtape The Corner, Maica began testing the local and semi- local poetry scene. Delivering his rhyme in poem form Maica was able to captivate the minds of many who's radar he missed with his music. Building a decent fan following from Dallas, Texas to Shreveport, La Mr. Darden continues to mesmerize crowds with his flow and move the world with his words. Destined for success, Maica has attended Media tech Institute at the Dallas Sound Lab to gain knowledge of his craft. Taking up classes in Business of Music, Song Writing, Audio Production and Engineering. "Self engineering, my projects all mine all the time". As said on "I'm Coming" Maica's advance notice to music that he is on his way. With a few "pat on the back's" for a job well done from some industry movers and a consistent fan base growth the future is bright for this young MC. Shout out to Young MC!
