The ODDESY

I'm a guy from Taylorsville, Utah who decided to one day pick up a pen and write a rap. I listened to Eminem for the first time like a month before this and when I found out he was white, I thought...hey I wanna try that. So I wrote this song and I have to admit, it sucked ass. But to me, it was the dopest thing I had ever done, and since then I've done nothing but write rhymes and improve my skills.
Why this name?
I was obsessed with this cartoon I would watch and one of the kid's names in the show was odd. I adopted this nickname and I rapped under it, but I felt like it wasn't enough...so I decided to call myself ODDESY(there's a reason it's in all caps) because I'm really unlike any rapper you've ever heard before. Of course some people might claim copyright on ODDESY so my full artist name is The ODDESY. I chose capital letters because I am extravagant like that, fool.
Do you play live?
I have yet to do any live shows, though once I record an album I'll definitely get out there and do some shows.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it really easy to become a star in the music scene. For real, you can add a million people on myspace or soundclick, make one sick ass track and be on top of the world in the popularity poles. But nothing beats good old work ethic and determination. You gotta put something out there and get signed if you really wanna make it, unless you plan to do it all yourself, which some people have done in the past.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell, I'd take anything to get me out of this cump I'm in right now. I'd definitely have to negotiate the contract like crazy to make sure I'm claiming rights to all my creative abilities and whatnot, but aside from contract stipulations, there ain't nothin' like signing to a label who'll promote your game and get you a fanbase. Besides once your contract expires, you can start your own label with the profits you made and do it your own way. Take advantage of people, or else they take advantage of you.
Band History:
Not much of a real musical history, but there is a personal one.
When I was 13 or 14, me and my homeboy Durran decided to form a rock group with our other buddy Zach. We named ourselves radio traffic, Zach would be drums, Durran would be lead guitar, and I'd be the lyricist. I had no fecking clue how to write a rap song. That's when I heard Eminem's Without Me single. I was like..damn that sounds good. Then I found out he was white. I was white. I could write some rhymes. And the rest of the story goes on to say that I wrote a song that sucked but kicked ass at the same time and since then I've improved my skills.

Your influences?
I have a lot of musical influences, a list as long as your leg. In general I just love music. But my biggest influences are Eminem, DZK(yeah yeah, bite me), Insane Clown Posse, Pyschopathic Records, D12. That's basically my strongest ones. But of course I get my influence from a little bit of everything I hear. If I find a new word by some unknown artist, I'm gonna use it.
Favorite spot?
Well, I haven't traveled much so I'd have to say right here in the 801.
Equipment used:
My Mp3 microphone and FL Studio 7
Anything else...?
Like any artist, I'm out to prove my worth. I don't really care if you think I suck, because that just makes you a hater, as well as a target for my next hit. So...think very carefully if you go and make a dis because you may just find your words on my next album being used against you to make me more popular, thus gain more record sales and all you can do is sit at home and cry like a little bi***. Oh and I ain't afraid to say anything, so if you doubt that there's a line I won't cross...test me.
