NEWS   August 2006. One Way Road, a cowrite with Laura Ranieri, has just been posted. It's a rough work tape for now. We will be doing a studio demo later in the year based on the response we have had here. Thanks for your support, guys.

Therre will be more new songs in the coming weeks. After a quiet stretch, I'm back on track, and getting ready to attend Country Music Week in Saint John, New Brunswick next month. This is the Canadian Country Music Association's 4 day event with showcases, seminars, parties, and of course, the CCMA award show.I will be attending as a full delegate this year for the first time, and I'm hoping to make a lot of valuable contacts.

Welcome to my page. I hope you enjoy yourself while you are here.

I am a songwriter. I have no interest in being a recording artist, and I am actively pitching my songs. I am using Soundclick as a tool to promote my music, and as such, it has been very successful.

I don't record my songs the traditional way. I use my computer, and several programs including Band In A Box. I take the results from there and port them to Cakewalk Home Studio to finish the vocals, guitars, sometimes using Steinberg Virtual Guitarist and other software instruments and plug ins. I try to make my songs sound as real as possible. It's not that I dislike working with other musicians. My schedule doesn't allow it for the most part. I do cowrite with a few people, including Claire Coburn (Claire and Rick), who has a band page here as well. I am doing more cowriting these days, and you will hear some of the results of this in the near future.

As a non-performing songwriter, it's difficult to get my music heard. I would like anyone who hears my songs to feel free to comment on them via the message boards, or by e-mail. I'm listed under country, but occasionally venture outside the borders of that genre.

For those brave souls who would like to purchase a CD of my music, drop me a line. I'm sure we can sort something out.

Enjoy.
Terry
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has the power to save or kill the traditional music industry. What will eventually happen depends on the end user, and their willingness to treat artists fairly.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I have no interest in pursuing a record deal. A publishing deal would be my ultimate goal.Even then, I'm happy to control the publishing on all my songs myself for the time being. It means I can write what I want, with whomever I please, and can pitch the end results to whatever artist I feel is appropriate.
Your influences?
Influences: John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Cheap Trick, The Cars, Garth Brooks, Carolyn Dawn Johnson. Anything with a strong hook, and well written lyrics.
Favorite spot?
I love Cape Breton Island, and the south shore of Nova Scotia. I also love living in Ottawa, Canada. It felt like home the day I arrived.
Anything else...?
I'm not a guitarist, or a keyboardist. I'm a bass player. My technical abilities on other instruments is lacking, but music is about ideas, and I have lots of those.
