Maverick Judson isn't your typical rising pop star. Sure, he's got a mind for melody and
a voice like velvet. He embodies rhythm, and performs with unyielding passion. But
Maverick – or MavvyJ when he's on stage – is much more than just another performer.
He's got an unstoppable drive to take his music to the top.
Hailing from northwestern Ontario, Maverick became a staple of the local music scene.
Not only did he make a name for himself with his music, but also for his business
acumen, setting up shows and concerts so he and other artists could perform all over
the community. In 2009, Maverick released his first album, You. Two singles from the
album, “Dot Dot Dot...” and “Me” received prominent airplay on radio stations across
Ontario. Less than two weeks after the album's release, hundreds of copies of the disc
were scooped up by local fans, all clamouring to get their hands on MavvyJ's debut. The
success of his self-produced debut album culminated in Maverick opening for Canadian
music stars Swollen Members in the fall of that year.
After performing an original song in the Quest For The Best singing competition in
Fort Frances, Ontario, hit country singer/songwriter Julian Austin awarded Maverick
a perfect score, saying he, “loved what [he] heard!” Austin went on to declare that
Maverick had the "it factor" music lovers were dying to see and hear.
In the summer of 2011, after three years of stunning crowds with his live performances
on stages across the province, Maverick received his first London Music Award as
London, Ontario's "Pop Artist of the Year." He then teamed up with producer J.D. Beatz,
and released a club remix of Lady Antebellum's hit single “Need You Now” that became
widely successful.
Since then, Maverick has released two original songs. The first, "Bound To Happen
Yet," was picked up by independent radio station, "The Mix with J-Remy" in New York.
Since it premiered, the song has been the most requested track on the show. With it,
Maverick finished in the Top 10 in the Coast To Coast Twista Remix Contest hosted by
Lil Fats. "Bound To Happen Yet" will soon be featured on the Coast To Coast Mixtape
Vol. 194 alongside a major artist.
The second track, "My Girl (f. Joey Burnz)" became an online hit almost overnight. The
Timbaland-inspired beat and catchy melodies led to the song being featured on the
CBC Radio One show, "Bandwidth" where host Amanda Putz said, "watch out Justin
Timberlake because Maverick is coming." Putz went on to put the track on the Best of
Bandwidth show for New Year's Eve 2011, declaring it one of her favourite tracks of the
year. With airplay on CBC Radio and Acadia Broadcasting stations across Ontario, "My
Girl" received thousands of streams and downloads from both longtime fans and eager
new listeners.
Maverick also shot a music video for "My Girl," which became one of his most watched
music videos on YouTube. Both "My Girl" and "Bound To Happen Yet" reached the
Number 1 spot on SoundClick in the Pop and R&B categories, each receiving several 5-
star ratings from listeners. In total, Maverick has more than 25,000 plays on SoundClick,
and an additional 10,000 on MySpace.
Riding a wave of popular support, Maverick plans to keep doing what he does best –
taking the music world by storm. With new covers and remixes in the works, along with
the beginnings of a new album, MavvyJ is set to make a lasting impression on the Pop
charts.

Band History:
Maverick Judson isn't your typical rising pop star. Sure, he's got a mind for melody and a voice like velvet. He embodies rhythm, and performs with unyielding passion. But Maverick – that's his real name, by the way – is much more than just another talented performer. He's got an unstoppable drive to take his music to the top.
Hailing from northwestern Ontario, Maverick became a force in the local music scene with his lightning-fast fingers on the guitar, his deft touch as a songwriter, and his knock-you-on-your-ass vocals. Not only did he grow a passionate following for his music, but also for his business acumen, setting up shows and concerts for himself and other local artists. Right from the start of his music career, Maverick was a tour de force, pulling himself up by the bootstraps to get his music to the masses.
His hard work speaks for itself. Maverick is the only performer in history to perform and receive a perfect score for an original song in the Quest For The Best singing competition in Fort Frances, Ontario. His performance inspired hit country songwriter Julian Austin to exclaim he “loved what he heard!”
