enil is Neil Stivers. After much writing and fruitlessly seeking like-minded musicians, enil has become the outlet for this work. Ranging from ambient post-rock to hard rock and metal, there is no definitive boundary in this work.
Why this name?
enil is a rearrangement of the author's first name.
Do you play live?
enil has not played live as enil. Neil was a drummer and writer for the late Altus, which performed in CT and MA. Venues included UMass Lowell, Ralph's Diner, Lucky Dog Music Hall and a few other dark, dirty places.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I believe the internet and the ease with which people can share information has changed the music industry by forcing the industry to rethink it's business model. The current model is outdated and it seems that the days of men in suits making more money than they could ever know what to do with for simply promoting a few one-hit wonders may be drawing to a close.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if it were the right deal.
Your influences?
Influences include (but are not limited to): Nine Inch Nails, Sigur Ros, Tool, Aphex Twin, Mogwai, Pigface, Radiohead and many more.
Favorite spot?
Cambridge, MA has great bars and great food.
Equipment used:
enil uses Tama drums, Ibanez guitars, Line 6 amplifiers, Alesis keyboards
