Farseer began in late 2007 by David Bisset (bass), David Connolly (guitar), Stefan Barron (drums) and Jon Stewart (guitar) whom set out to create a heavy metal band with an epic atmosphere. In April 2008 the line up was completed with the addition of vocalist Dean Turner.
After a number of successful gigs in their home town of Glasgow the band embarked on recording a 5 track demo EP. Shortly before gaining a support slot for Swedish metal act 'Sabaton' drummer Stefan Barron left the band to further his career. His position was quickly filled by Colin Bolton. In Early January the demo EP 'Storm' was released.

Why this name?
Bisset: We were changing our name and had about a million suggestions and Farseer just came from that.
Davidov: Basically Dean gave us a list of names and ‘Farseer’ stuck out.

Do you play live?
Yes, at the moment in the central Belt of Scotland but looking to gig in England in 2009
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has made it much easier to promote and distribute material for unsigned bands, giving them a level of exposure like never before on a global scale. This is also true of major record labels where the internet allows them to hone in on a specific group of individuals which would appeal to their promotional campaigns.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes
Band History:
Bisset: Dave and I had been in a few bands before but seemed to get hit by every bit of bad luck along the way. Eventually in a drunken chance encounter we got Stefan to play drums for us. After a few months we recruited one of my school mates, Jon Stewart, to play guitar for us. Then we concentrated on writing songs until we found Dean stuck in a cave, singing away to himself.
Davidov: Me and Bisset met in a previous band and the rest were acquaintances we knew from other local bands. We auditioned lots of folk until we got a group that all got on well, had fun and wanted to play the same things.
Dean: I actually have no idea how I came into this band, one minute I was on the Plains of Valhalla slaying my enemies, the next, a ginger-haired demon stood before me brandishing a bass guitar...

Your influences?
Bisset: I wouldn’t say a direct influence but in a roundabout way probably Blind Guardian.
Davidov: Blind Guardian for sure, every album carry’s some new progression and unique song structures that made a nice change to the normal verse/chorus/verse/chorus/solo routine.
Dean: I’d say we’re pretty original in regards to style and sound. That’s maybe what makes people listen to us. I just get so sick of every band that’s a copy of Pantera or Metallica. Sure they were excellent bands, but we need to move on people!
