Well I go by the name Marqez Yaheem. Im a producer/writer coming out of the Atlanta area. Ive been doing music for about 7 years now since I was around 12 and ever since then Ive made a good number of beats for different artist for the Umbrella Music Corporation. Ive travel back and forth from North to South working with different artist such as EFX, A-K, Rich, Jacob Love, Mr. Goodness, Draino, Meecka, and Stylez just to name a few. Ive talked with some major people in the industry and have gotten really good feedback from artist such as Homebwoi who has worked with the Ying Yang Twins and B.G. The main thing that I am focused on now is the producing and getting my name out there in that field. I make track for a number of genres that include Hip Hop, Rap, R & B, Soul, and I have worked with a couple Rock bands. To hear a couple of my beats you can visit my myspace at www.myspace.com/youngwill331
Why this name?
Well the Umbrella Music Corporation has a team of artist and producers that are really close and have been working in the music industry together for a good amount of time now so we put together a family that we call the Yaheem Family. They consider me the younger brother among the rest of them cause Im the youngest so my name is Marqez Yaheem, my older brothers are Jerrell Yaheem, Quron Yaheem, Ricky Yaheem, and so forth.
Do you play live?
I do not play live for the simple fact that I am a producer and not a artist but i do write and sometime in the future I would like to start my artist career and start performing but for right now Im just in the background trying to make money.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes it from my opinion because it disrupts a lot of the album sales. Instead of goning to your local record store to buy the artist album you can just download it from home. They still can make a little money off the ringtones and Mp3 sales but not as much as before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No I dont think I would unless it was going through my label and I was going through them for distribution. I wouldnt sign an artist deal with them cause of the way the indusrty look right now with sales.
