Ike's Dark Days
NEWS
We'll probably be playing the annual Battle of the Bands in West Milford that usually takes place in late September at the Coffee House. Check back for updates on that.

IKE'S DARK DAYS. We are a very original acoustic based rock band, and good friends who are just out to have fun. We've got a lot of new music coming up, so stay tuned for more updates.
Why this name?
Mike: Actually it was Shawn and I jamming in his basement one day, and there was this US News magazine on the floor he had been using for school. On the cover was Eisenhower with a weird face and the headline read, "Ike's Dark Days".
Shawn: Then I said it should be our band name, jokingly at first.
Mike: And I said it SHOULD be our name, and so it is. There, ya happy, Mr. F?

Do you play live?
We play live occasionly and we love it, and jump at the chances to do it more. Some choice performances were a show at the local coffee house, where we just showed up and played. A lot of our friends were there and we had a lot of fun. Then we played in the West Milford Battle of the Bands, which was a lot of fun, even though we were terrible, but we had only gotten a call to play at 9:30 that morning. So for having only like 3 hours of practice between us, we did pretty decent I guess.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Mike: Sure it does. Makes music more accessible to people. Which has it's strikes and gutters, it's ups and downs. I mean, for small bands like us, it's a shot to get our music out there, and share it with the people who care, also it enables people who genuinly love music to find stuff to move them. That's what I love about this internet stuff. But it definatly has it's downfalls, like everything does. Like when people steal songs from bands that aren't finished yet or leak albums to the world when they're not supposed to. That's not right.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Haha, sure, if the situation came around. I don't think we'd ever be looked at as sellouts. It would be cool, but some reason i think highly unlikely.
Your influences?
Mike: Since I'm the only one here answering this stuff right now, I'll put down what I think influences our sound. Uh...well we're all big Pearl Jam fans, especially myself. Pearl Jam's music really inspires a lot of my lyrics and music, Neil Young and Springsteen, and Blind Melon as well. Lately however, I think we've got a Coldplayish sound to our music. But in the end, I'd say we're pretty original.
