In short We rock!
Why this name?
We Went through a band name or two per week. firstly we went htrough names like the invisibles(after the comic), then through project mayhem and other very teenage names, which don't reflect the band what so ever. We wanted to stay on the whole blowing stuff up theme and so Four Second Fuse cames from no where (Well Drew, the guitarists head).
Do you play live?
So far we have only played back home in Newcastle. We have found ourselves playing at the cooperage a few times now, which we feel is a good thing cos it's quite a prestegious venue. We've been asked to comeback everytime we've played there. Our first gig was in the Tap And Spile. That gig went badly , but we rocked and there was like 80 people exluding the bands and girlfriends of the bands, which is a good turn out. ever 1 in 2 gigs goes a wee bit wrong but the crowd normally don't notice.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is good in the fact that music scenes and communities are built and many oppotunities a rise. On the negative side record sales go down which totaly cruisifise small signed bands. Also the artwork behind the music is not there which for me is an important part of communicating an ideal, concept or emotion. Art and Music are linked 2gether. there should not be one without another.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depending on who they are! I quite like the look of parlophone or food, they have some pretty good bands in their hands, and the bands seem to be fairly happy. For some bands major labels are good and for others they are not.
Band History:
basically the band first formed in sept 2002. when George Feynee (Vox) and Graham Bayne (Bass, Me) got together in newcastle School of art to write some acoustic stuff. A load of us went out to a punk/rock/metal/hip hop night at our local uni and it was after a few drinks that Drew Eddon (Geetar) joined the band, drink helped us 2 come up with the idea of him joining as well as thinking it was a good idea. About 4 weeks later another guitarist joined, he will remain nameless, but was removed from the band in 1 week. There is only so much bad punk/ska one can take. We then bagged Rich (Other Guitar) at art school. We spent 6 months trying to find A drummer. We got so sick of trying to find one so we decided to put on a gig for an art project, documenting the quest to find one. 3 weeks before the gig drew realise that one of his friends drummed and so BIG Rich joined. And the rest they say is history.
Your influences?
we all have very different musical backgrounds. Old punk to acoustic to metal to Emo to alternative rock to black metal. As a Band we kind of varie in our own sound. Some of our stuff feels like metal mixed alternate rock, some is like punk or posthardcore, or even emo. We describe ourselves as Extremo, but this is more of a joke than reality. it's such a stoopid name for a genre
