Well here's the basics my name is Jordan~Jay, I'm a producer and an emcee, I own and operate 3BE Studios and 3BE Music my independent record company. This Band Page is to promote and give away a brand new mixtape marking the five year anniversary of the Backlash's original release. While I was in the process of wrapping up my newest album it was taking longer than I had liked so I got the label together to create something free to give to our fans for their continued support. So if you're reading this then you're probably unfamiliar with us. So feel free to download this mixtape and give it away to anyone you think might enjoy it. All I ask in return is that you put my myspace address (www.myspace.com/swahhjay) on the CD so that they may find us.
Why this name?
Well 3BE Music is the registered trademark and company name standing for Bound By Blood Entertainment Music division. The Backlash Vol. 2 is the name of the mixtape that is available on this page.
Do you play live?
We love playing live. We're capable of holding down a single song set to a full blown 90 min show. So if you like what you hear drop us a line and lets see what magic we can make.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes marketing to your core audience much easier on a global scale and it also has the ability to widen your fan base by attracting people that you did not expect to be in your core audience. Then there's the drawbacks like downloading and album sales declining...blah blah blah. The masses have shown time and time again that if you create a product that is artistic and touches fans then it will be a commercial success regardless of illegal downloads.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course. To have the machine working in your corner can only mean good things once you've done all the leg work yourself. So yes I would love to sign to a major label as long as the business was good.
Your influences?
We're a rap collective consisting of three producers, five emcees, a r&b singer and a gospel artist. We run the gambit from commercial to concious from pop to alternative. We refuse to be held captive by labels we refer to our music as Conmerical.
Favorite spot?
St. Louis, MO. 3BE Studios.
Equipment used:
MPC 2500, MPC 2000xl, Korg Triton, Yamaha Motif, E-MU MP-7 Fully Expanded, Pro-Tools, FLStudio, a table and my hands, my mouth and a pen and a pad. Basically if it makes a noise I've probably used it to make a track somewhere along the line.
