Emotion's inner twined with melody. A musical Storm in which the wind is his words, and the thunder his sound. Weather in his Lyrics, hooks, or instrumentation's, the artist/producer known as "20Below" consistently brings to the listener a West coast urban sound that reflects his soul while employing a variety of musical influences from all genres. 20Below (Rahimu Pettit) was born January 28, 1980, in Fairbanks Alaska where his father, also a musician, was stationed in the Army. Rahimu never heard his father play, but says his mother, while pregnant with him, would always go to the shows. That may have been the true beginning. Around the age of 2, Rahimu and his Mother moved back to the Bay area where most of his family resides. Living in such cities as East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Leandro, and Pittsburg California, helped mold this artist and his music into what it is today. Rahimu's years in Pittsburg, is where he first experienced a studio, and what it’s about. A friends house on stoneman avenue in Pittsburg California, is were he recorded his first track with the help of close friend and fellow producer Rob LO (Robert mix on the III), and it was no turning back. In the summer of 95', he again relocated, and this time to the North West, Portland Oregon, where he again, made a name for himself right away. Less then a month into living in Portland, Rahimu was introduced to what would be his partner in rhyme for life, S.G (David Ferguson).
David Ferguson (SG) and Rahimu Pettit (20-Below) both were ambitious solo rap artist while attending the same high school in Portland, Oregon. After graduating, they both began to channel their potential into the same direction, and eventually piecing together monies for musical equipment and forming what became a prep recording studio. With unmistakable chemistry and infinite talent, history started its making, and the group Young Choppas (Y.C.) was created. With an overwhelming buzz forming throughout the northwest, Y.C. released it’s highly anticipated 5-song EP in the Y2K entitled “The Affiliates,” produced by 20-Below, SG, and Torrey Ward. Though limited to a small budget, the EP sound scanned 3,500 copies within 2.5 months, without TV or Poll Poster advertisement, just good ole fashion word of mouth! The EP’s feature track “Gift2Spit,” was in rotation on feature radio shows at stations such as Jammin 95- PDX, Kube 93- Sea-Tac, Uni 106-Spokane, Hott 97- Medford, OR and a variety of NW and Black college stations. Y.C. has gone on to perform in over 60 concerts and open up for the likes of Nelly, Donnell Jones, City High, E-40, B-legit, C-Bo, Yukmouth of the Luniz, 3xCrazy, Richie Rich, Too Short, The RBL Posse, Bosko, Afro-man and a host of other entertainers. Y.C. has also been featured on numerous musical compilations from the Northwest and Northern California. Currently Y.C. is in the studio working on a full length album reuniting the duo, due to hit in the last fiscal quarter of the 2009 year. 20Below is also currently working on his second solo album titled "The Drifter...Poetry in motion," and two 20Below present’s albums Titled “Slap Magic,” and “Slow Burn.” Both featuring artists from all coasts. He also plans to release an all easy listening cd Tittled,"RAHIMUSIK." 20below has produced tracks for, and worked with many known artists such as, Spice-1(Bossed out Compilation with Kat Williams), C-Bo, The Mob Fagan, Karupt, Lazy bone, Kokane, Jayo Felony, Meezilini, the Wacsta, T-Spade, and Goldie Locc to name a few. In 2008, 20below founded Rahimu Entertainment LLC, and plans to hit hard in 2009 not only in the music scene as an artist/producer, but expand to doing movie scores, engineering, and reverse marketing over seas. Rahimu (20below), understands there are millions who share his same desire, passion, struggle, joy and pain, and that is what he says drives him...The music can bring all the great minds together to create what we all have
still yet to hear...but have all endured. A musical storm in which the wind is his words, and the thunder his sound. 20below is ready to change the forecast. Look for the album early 09', The Drifter, and Slap magic summer 2009.
