We are two best friends, Adrian Chandler and Jamey Brown, who just happen to make music together. Our friends and fans have called Paragraphic's music everything from neo-existential trip hop (whatever that means) to indie electro soulgaze. Pgrphc consist of synth, guitar, bass, vocals, noise generators and electronic rhythms and samples that we program. We are currently working on our first full length album, which is currently untitled. For more information please check out www.myspace.com/paragraphic .
Why this name?
Jamey stumbled across the word Paragraphic, and it just seemed right. The word paragraphic reminds us of the term audio-visual, which is fitting, as our live shows are a combination of ear, eye, and grey matter stimulation.
Do you play live?
We are currently not seeking shows while we work on our album, however we love playing shows, especially out of town.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It doesnt really matter. But as an interesting side note, Pgrphc produced the theme song for the "Radio Nerd Show", a podcast from Lafayette,LA. So thats intrnet related
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Under the right circumstances and contract stipulations, of course! As long as our morals and creativity are NEVER stifled.
Band History:
Paragraphic had other names before paragraphic, none of which are important. However both of us have solo projects we work on in our free bored time. Adrian is in a one man Electro-Punk band called Tourist ( www.myspace.com/touristnoise ), and Jamey produces the grooviest rhythms youve ever been privvy to in Zetroc (www.myspace.com/zetrocisnonsense ).
Your influences?
We are both into jazz, funk, soul, indie rock, IDM and old school hip hop. But we are influenced more heavily by life, love, energy, and each other more than we are by music.
Equipment used:
Danelectro Longhorn Bass, Danelectro HODAD and Fender Toronado Guitar, MicroKorg synth, an old yamaha toy synth, a plethora of effects pedals, samplers, and multi effects boxes, thebetatesters' Atari Punk Console optical theremin, Ebow Plus, and an output source for our beats.
Anything else...?
We like to dance, we like for you to dance. www.myspace.com/paragraphic
