We are a hip hop group that loves Jesus Christ with all our hearts. We use acoustic and blues infused urban beats with messages about social, economic, and faith related issues, but when it comes down to it, all our music points to Jesus!
Why this name?
We chose the name Unseen Word because we want to make Jesus Christ seen by the world through our music. Also our name has a double meaning. We try to speak for those that are unseen by the rest of the world. The homeless, drug addicts, and abused children. We believe that God loves all of us and we need to be aware of the injustice in the world and try to do something about it.
Do you play live?
We'll play anywhere! We don't really have a preference. We have played in churches, music clubs, covention centers, and so on. We have had a few special moments. One that really sticks out is when we did a benefit show for an elderly woman who had lost her home in a tornado. The sound system was horrible at the venue we were in and we had sound problems the whole time. Regardless of the problems, people stayed for the "show" and almost 1,500 dollars was raised for the woman. That moment really humbled me and reminded me how awsome God is!!!!!!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has tremendous capabilities for releasing independent music to the rest of the world. Any message can be sent anywhere. This is a major benefit to the independent artist because such a wide range of people can be reached and competition with a major label is reduced.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It's a possibility. We would approach any offer with prayer and meditation, wanting to seek God's will in any decision. The label that made the offer would have to do business in a Godly manner (more focused on the message of Christ than the dollar bill.) The big labels have many resources that make getting your message out faster.
Your influences?
We have a lot of different musical influences from BB king to the Roots. What really influences us to do what we do is Jesus Christ and what he did for the whole world!!!!!!!
